Diamonds Over Georgia was founded by the Atlanta Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association in 2006 in honor of Penn State’s annual Dance Marathon (THON).  THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, has raised an incredible $147 million for The Four Diamonds Fund since its inception in 1977.

The mission of The Four Diamonds Fund is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children treated at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and their families through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research.  The Fund offsets the cost of treatment that insurance does not cover, as well as expenses that may disrupt the welfare of the child, such as car repairs, rent, or household utilities. The Fund also supports the medical team that cares for the children and subsidizes pediatric cancer research through start-up grants and the Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Institute.  For more information on this amazing organization, please visit www.FourDiamonds.org.

To show our support for initiatives in the Atlanta area, part of the proceeds is donated to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and CURE Childhood Cancer.  The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is a national leader among childhood cancer, hematology, and blood and marrow transplant programs, serving infants through young adults.  The center is recongnized as one of the largest and most renowened childhood cancer centers in the U.S..  Visit www.CHOA.org/medical-services/cancer-and-blood-disorders for more information.  CURE is dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through targeted research and supporting patients and their families.  For more information visit www.CureChildhoodCancer.org..
